Branding that builds business: A blueprint for success

When you hear “branding” what comes to mind?  New logos and colors, or even a new name?  Certainly, these can be components of a rebrand.  But it’s so much more.  Your brand is the experience that each and every person has with your organization.  The patient experience.  How the phone is answered.  Their online interaction with you.  Billing. The reception area.  And yes, your advertising and the image it portrays.

Is that enough?  No. Your brand should build business.  Branding isn’t just about pretty pictures that make us feel warm inside; it’s about boosting patient volumes and increasing outpatient procedures.  Join Erin Frank, PR/Marketing Manager at Horizon Health in Illinois and Mike Milligan, President of Legato Healthcare Marketing as they demonstrate how a rebrand helped Horizon Health achieve higher patient volumes, an expanded market share, and a revenue increase of 24% and 57% at its two clinics.

Mike Milligan, President of Legato Healthcare Marketing, has 25 years of experience in healthcare marketing, serving in senior leadership positions for Prevea Health and Aurora HealthCare before founding Legato. He is an active advocate for rural health through his involvement in NRHA and leadership positions with national associations such as the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, and the Wisconsin Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society, where he has earned the designation of Fellow. Mike is a sought-after national speaker on various rural health topics including strategic marketing planning, physician relations, building outpatient surgeries, brand building, reputation management, and reducing outmigration.

Erin Frank is the PR/Marketing Manager at Horizon Health in Illinois. Erin is actively involved in her ICAHN and ISHMPR peer groups, as well as other state and national healthcare marketing organizations. In addition to her traditional departmental duties, she is the initial contact for provider recruitments and was instrumental in the formation of Bee Well (local community wellness initiative) and starting a medical weight loss service in our organization. She participates in the strategic development/innovative projects committee and many others. Outside of work, she’s active in her community and enjoys family time with her husband and three little girls.
